It’s time for some more Warhammer Underworlds, as a brand new Warband, as well as a brand new Rivals deck are up for preorder today.
With the Battletome for this latest edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar also up for preorder today, it feels fitting that GW have released a new Ossiarch Bonereapers warband at the same time, Thanatek’s Tithe.
The new rivals deck, Nexus of Power, fits how the Bonereapers play in Underworlds, making this a very suitable release.
Our thanks to Games Workshop for sending us both the Warhammer Underworlds warband and the new rivals deck to unbox and review. Both are available now to preorder, so why not head over to our affliates at Element Games to secure yours, helping you save money vs RRP and also helping us out at the same time.
If you are a fan of the Ossiarch Bonereapers, don’t forget to check out our Battletome review, as well as the unboxing of the new AoS minis at this link.
Let’s check out the new stuff!

Thanatek’s Tithe | New Underworld Warband
Let’s take a closer look at the brand new Ossiarch Bonereapers warband.
You get five models in the unit, who are as follows:
- Thanatek – The leader
- Tukhar and Sekhmor – Two Mortis Reapers
- Xar-Tamok and Medeb-Ahk – Mornial Caste Retainers (Walking caskets, basically)
They come on a bone coloured sprue, allowing you to assemble and battle straight away, as your warband will be a different colour than your opponents. It ewas such a clever idea having different coloured sprues for Underworlds.
I sadly didn’t get to paint mine, but the five models went together so fast. They are Easy Build models, however I’ve had a lot of experience in building Underworlds minis, and sometimes, even though they are push fit, you could do with a third arm to hold certain elements together. Also, when pushing together parts heavy pressure can leave to snapping. I had nether of these issues with this warband however.
So what are they like in game? Well you can check out their character cards below, including a look at the Inspired side of the cards:
They don’t punch particularly hard, but they have some really cool gameplay abilities. They’ll require some games to get used too, but I feel like they will be easier to play than some available warbands for newcomers to the game.
I do really like the Inspire mechanic, which has you collecting Cadaver points, which you can then spend to Inspire.
Nexus of Power | New Rivals Deck
To coincide with the release of the new warband, we have a new Rivals deck entitled Nexus of Power.
This is a Flex-style deck, and suits the Bonereapers perfectly, but of course can be used with any Warhammer Underworlds warbands.
A new keyword is key in this deck, Covetous, and in general the deck requires a balance of taking and holding treasures, as well as incapacitating enemy fighters.
It’s a very low scoring deck, with the maximum number of Glory points on offer from any of the Objectives cards being just 2, but what this does mean is a constant amount of scoring, as the cards are relatively straight forward to achieve. Play the game sensibly and you should be OK, just remember you won’t be pulling any high scoring cards should you start to fall behind.
You can check out a sample of the cards in the below slideshow, including the objective, power and upgrade cards:
I really like this deck, as it’s quite straightforward, has some nice tricksy power cards, and some very useful upgrades. I think the low scoring, easy to achieve objective game suits me down to a tee, so I’m really looking forward to getting a couple of games of Underworlds in with both Thanatek’s Tithe and the new Rivals deck.
