Who Are We?

Sprues and Brews was the brain child of Matt and Dave. The two originally met way back in the midst of time on a bus from their local Games Workshop store heading to a Gamesday of old at the Birmingham NEC.

Back at the end of April 2017 the two decided to take their interest in the hobby to the next level by creating the website your browsing now. Since then the website has gone from strength to strength, obtaining thousands of hits everyday.

Sprues and Brews is also home to a popular weekly podcast that can be dowloaded via all the major platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Google Podcasts. The podcast includes regular features such as the latest news, hobby progress and the fan favourite Top 3, where the hosts discuss their top 3s of whatever the subject is for the week. The community is encouraged to join in by sending in their top 3s, with many being read out on the show.

We are working on brand new video content for our YouTube channel in 2019, including battle reports and unboxing videos. We are pleased to announce that early in 2019 we obtained GameMat.eu as a sponsor.

Matt

Matt has been involved in the hobby for many years. You can check out his hobby history in an article he wrote for the website.

A passionate gamer and fantastic painter, Matt is known for his well crafted lists and the speed of which he paints! He is often jokingly called a Chaos God on the podcast due to the amount of armies he has attuned to the forces of Chaos. Matt has a large array of fully painted armies for various gaming systems, including Age of Sigmar, 40k, Adeptus Titanicus and Warhammer Underworlds.

Often seen in the Warhammer TV chat, Matt has made two appearances at the time of writing on Warhammer Live with his Tamurkhan’s Horde and Evil Sunz. Matt hosts the videos seen over on the YouTube channel and is chief editor of the battle reports.

Dave

Dave helped to found the videogame website and YouTube channel ‘Blast Process‘, but has since found himself moving away from videogames and getting more involved in tabletop gaming.

Whilst being into the hobby for quite a number of years he’s really got involved in all aspects of the hobby in the last couple of years. Known for a long time as someone who bought a lot of models but very rarely painted them, Dave is now more driven to get fully painted armies on the battlefield!

Dave hosts the weekly podcast alongside Matt and Jay, and often joins Matt on a number of the videos seen on the YouTube channel. Dave appeared alongside Matt in the first Sprues and Brews outing on Warhammer Live when his Legions of Nagash faced off against Matt’s Tamurkhan’s Horde.

Jay

Jay, like Matt and Dave, has been involved in the hobby for a number of years. As well as playing all the various gaming universes from Games Workshop, he also has a very keen interest in board games and has a large collection of various Kickstarter games.

Jay appears in the podcasts, and is normally painting or building something whilst the recording is going on!

A fantastic painter, Jay also has a large collection of Black Library novels and enjoys really getting into the lore of Warhammer 40k/Age of Sigmar/Horus Heresy.

Andy

Having been a huge fan of the podcast since it’s inception Andy joined the show back in 2021 and has been hobbying like crazy ever since, writing Hobby Resolution updates as well as reviews for the site.

He always wears his Sprues and Brews shirts to events so you can tell he loves what he does.

Starting out playing Middle Earth as a kid he now loves playing pretty much any table top miniatures game most notably Age of Sigmar and he regularly attends events both at Warhammer world and independent events being a co-founder and organiser of the Purple Sparkly Unicorns.
