Outland Beastmaster With Ripperjacks Unboxing and Review Necromunda – Forge World

Outland Beastmasters are odd even by Necromunda standards… They skulk around the Underhive or in the wastes around the hives hunting and training various vicious creatures that they then use to offer their service as mercenaries to the various gangs, their deadly beasts being used with lethal intent! One of these beasts is the Ripperjack, alien flying creatures that are all wings and teeth and terror…

Today we are taking a look at the new Outland Beastmaster with Ripperjacks set from Forge World, up for pre order today, check out the components and seeing what they look like assembled and painted, and see if you should hire one for your gang!

Massive thanks to Games Workshop for sending us an early free review copy to paint up for the site! If you would like to support the site then why not order your Necromunda goodies through our affiliate Element Games and save yourself money too!

I have also filmed a full unboxing which you can see below or over on YouTube!

This is a kit I’ve been looking forward to, as I was a massive fan of the original models from Necromunda back in the day.

I think it’s safe to say these things look very, very weird! Which is fitting as they are an alien creature not native to Necromunda and they are meant to be something that inspires terror, and these are 100% Nightmare Fuel!

Painting them up was very fun due to the fact that they dont really look like anything else in Necromunda – they are very unique! The bone armour of the Beastmaster myself reminds me of the Bone armour from Morrorwind, and his scavenged together gear makes him an ace hanger on for an ash wastes campaign.

The Rippers themselves are all kinds of freaky, and certainly come from the H R Giger school of design with parallels to both the facehuggers and Alien egg sacks in these!

I am intrigued to see if we get different Beastmaster designs for each of the creatures available to them – for example in the Outlands book there is an illustration of a Millisaur Beastmaster with a very different look to this one. I hope this is the case as thematically the various Beastmasters would live in different environments and have different gear for looking after their respective creatures. This would also be an ace excuse to be able to paint up 3 very different looking Beastmasters, giving players the chance of picking one that fits aesthetically with their gang too.

One thing I do have to mark the set down a little for is the fact that it comes with 2 Ripperjacks, but the unit entry allows you to have up to three, meaning you would need to buy a second blister in order to have the full allowance of Rippers – though this would quickly get expensive in Credits!

This was a really fun unit to work on and I can’t wait to see what else we have on the way for Necromunda in 2023

The Beastmaster with Ripperjacks is available to order today and is released 7th January

Games Workshop provided Sprues and Brews a free copy for review purposes
