Grimbeorn

First of all we have to start with Grimbeorn himself! From Forge World and costing £44, this is a chunky blister pack and the centre piece of your Beorning force. This is a really characterful kit with 13 parts and builds in both in bear form and humanoid form

Building him up was really easy, just be careful with the axe head as I managed to snap mine off – however it is easily fixable! In bear form he is very easy with locators for each leg meaning you can’t get assembly wrong! Both models also have sculpted detail on the bases giving them a bit of interest and something you could go to town with when painting to make really nice! The advantage with an army like this is that you dont have many models in you force, making them a really nice painting project!

I’m very much looking forward to painting him up and will update the images on here when he is complete!

Beornings

Like Grimbeorn, the Beornings are from Forge World and retail at £23. What surprised me however was the number of parts within the kit – 25 in all and allows you to build 7 different poses across all weapon options, and each body has 2 heads that fit it

As you can see, I’ve tried to make mine as different to the box art as possible, and I honestly think there’s enough variation in this set to ensure that an entire force will look different – certainly at 500 to 600 points (Once you fit higher than this you’ll start to see some duplication, however you can easily fix this by painting their outfits differently)

Again, like with Grimbeorn I’ll be getting these painted up as soon as possible and update the post with the images!

Full rules for these can be found in the Defence of the North supplement – you can see our review of that below!

Grimbeorn and the Beornings are currently available to pre order from Forge World

Games Workshop provided Sprues & Brews with free copies for review purposes.
