Thanks to Hachette Partworks we’ve had yet another supply drop arrive at Sprues & Brews HQ!

We have had Issues 27, 28, 29 and 30 of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer magazine series.

You can check out the contents of the issues, including a run-through of each magazine in the video below:

Now lets take a little time to delve into each issue, to see what we get and how much we could save picking up the issues compared to the value of the included items.

For reference, each issue costs £8.99 and can be purchased from the Hachette Partworks website.

Issue 27

Includes 6 x Gryph-hounds
Value: GW RRP £19 – Save £10.01

I’ve always liked those cute little Gryph-hounds, however they aren’t super competitive in games of Sigmar and at retail they are a bit pricey, so it’s ace to get a unit within this magazine series.

The magazine itself wraps up the Venom story that started in the previous issue, as well as giving you some narrative inspiration for your hounds and introducing you to the command abilities ‘All Out Attack’ and ‘All Out Defence’.

Issue 28

Includes Zarbag’s Gits
Value: Not currently available on GW’s webstore, however Underworld warbands are normally £25, so… – Save £16.01

This next issue includes the excellent Zarbag and his Gitz, a great (and classic) Warhammer Underworlds warband, which is usable in games of Sigmar too (as are all warbands).

As well as the usual building and painting guides for your new warband you also get clear rules on how inspiring presence works, warscroll tutorials for Zarbag’s Gitz and another new battle plan.

Issue 29

Includes Barak-Nar Burgundy & Runelord Brass Paints
Value: £3.70 a pot – Save £1.59

OK, so when it comes to the value of paint issues, we know how it goes. However, you do get two excellent paints with this issue. I’ve fancied picking up Barak-Nar got a while and cannot wait to use it.

This issue also has a few bits of information on the Realm of Chaos, as well as some background on the conflict known as the Blight War.

New paints means updating the models you’ve painted so for. This issue takes you through your painting progress and has you adding your new colours.

There is a fun bit of narrative in here too, for creating origin stories for your hero’s and units should you decide to declare them hauling from the realm of Ghur!

Issue 30

Includes 10 x Hobgrot Slittas
Value: GW RRP for 20 Hobgrots is £35, so we’ll halve that to £17.50. Save £8.51

Ok…so you can probably pick Hobgrots up from eBay for about the same price as the magazine, however they are still cool models and a welcome addition to your growing Destruction horde.

The magazine itself has some background on the Slaves to Darkness and a Duardin short story.

As always your new unit has some narrative flavour and background, as well as comprehensive guides on assembling and painting them.

Importantly for playing games of Sigmar, this issue fully explains Objectives and Objective Markers, and even includes some cut out markers (you’d need to stick them to something like cardboard however).
