We are back with another unboxing and review! But before we get stuck in a reminder that if you use one of our affiliate links, such as this one, you’ll save pennies on hobby goodness from Element Games. You’ll also be massively helping us out.
Our thanks to Games Workshop for sending us a complete packaged set of these to unbox, paint and review.
What is Warhammer Heroes?
Warhammer Heroes is a series of blind boxes. The latest series features 7 Space Marines, which individually gives you some alternative Intercessors, a Assault Intercessor, a Heavy Bolter armed Heavy Intercessor, an Eliminator and a Captain (armed with power fist and plasma pistol).
By collecting at least 6 of the 7 characters however gains you a Kill Team, suitable for games of Kill Team!
Unboxing
Check out the video below as I unbox a complete pack of this series of Warhammer Heroes:
You can also check out each of the Sprues, and their included Kill Team cards in the gallery below:

As you can see from the Sprues these are Easy-Build kits which were super easy to assemble. They were also really easy to clip off the Sprues thanks to having a thinner piece of plastic between the component and the sprue itself.
Is This a Matched Play Kill Team?
All 7 of the models collectively make up Strike Force Justian, a Space Marine Kill Team which yes, is a completely matched play legal Kill Team.
Each box includes a card for that character. The card features everything you would normally see on a Kill Team dataslate, including all of the models attributes, gear and special rules.
On the reverse of each card is either a Strategic or Tactical Ploy that you can use on your Strike Force. This means that by the time you have the final, seventh character, you’ll have a combined total of 7 ploys.
I’ve said you need all 7, when actually, technically you don’t, as you can only send 6 of the operatives out in missions, however you’ll want at least 1 sat on your roster should you need to swap him in.
The only requirement aside from having 6 operatives is that your Leader must either be Captain Justian or Sergeant Marius.
Any Other Rules? Spec Ops? Equipment?
Simply put. Nope.
Their are no special rules for the Strike Force, no equipment or Spec Ops available for them.
Aside from what’s on the dataslates and your ploys, that’s it.
Why Do I Want This Kill Team Then?
Strike Force Justian is currently the only way to get different marks of Primaris armour in one Kill Team.
Yes it sucks you don’t get much flexibility in the load out of your team, however they do already come equipped with neat rules and gear, in particular the Captain who has a Power Fist and Plasma Pistol. Again this is the only Kill Team which allows you to take a Captain.
It’s a brilliant team for newcomers to Kill Team, with no real setup required and thanks to them being Space Marines, a good all round team to play with.
What are the models like built?
I really enjoyed building these guys, as mentioned above.
Sadly I only got to put paint on two of them (whilst the rest need another coat of primer as I realised when doing the video I’ve missed bits!).
Here are 5 of the 7 (almost) ready for painting:

I did manage to paint the Captain and Heavy Intercessor however:

Even though in the video I mention that I’m tempted to paint them as Deathwatch, I actually went for Raven Guard. These guys have inspired me to get an army of Raven Guard (I’m so weak..).
Summary
Some of the sculpts may be very unimaginative and similar to poses we’ve seen, but as a combined set they make a great first time Kill Team, or a fun alternative Kill Team for more experienced players.
I’d have liked more options on top of ploys (which are basically the standard Space Marine ones). Unique Enhancements or Equipment would have been great.
That said, they look like a great all-round team to use, and I can’t wait to try them out on the tabletop.
Our thanks again to GW for sending!
