Whilst a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 maybe on the horizon, it doesn’t mean the release schedule of minis is slowing down.

Matt has done a superb job of reviewing the new Armageddon: The Return of Yarrick book, of which is getting a raft of new models, two of which we’ll be focusing on in this article, Commissar Graves and Inquisitor Graves. Matt has painted up Yarrick himself, which you can check out here.

I’ll be running through the new datasheets for both of these new characters, and you’ll be able to check out the new minis being unboxed.

If you decide to place a preorder for either the Inquisitor and/or Graves, then why not place your preorder through our affiliates over at Element Games, saving you some cash VS RRP and you’ll help us out too!

Before we look at both characters individually, lets check out the full unboxing video of them!

Commissar Graves

The first of the two characters we are going to check out is a brand new Commissar!

What makes this Commissar a step above the rest however, is the fact she comes complete with a vehicle called Vigilance!

The vehicle is really straightforward to assemble, and is the same chassis as the new Centaur RSV, albeit with a few extra parts for the back of it. Graves, and her three assiocates can all easily be painted seperately, as I have done. Zero issues here with assembly.

I really enjoed painting this model, I haven’t done many models with crew. The four models on the back took longer than the tank itself!

Her datasheet reflects her Commissar rank. She’s not too bad in combat thanks to her Power Fist and Powersword (5 attacks, 2+, S6, -2, 2 Damage) whilst her crew do some attacks as well. When you charge with this model, the Prow does D3 mortal wounds on a 2+, or on a 4-5 a flat 3 mortal wounds…or on a 6 D3 + 3 mortals! Combined with a tasty tank shock and it’s a good ramming vehicle!

Ability-wise Graves has the age-old blow the head off a guardsmen to pass a Battle-shock Commissar ability, as well as allowing any units jumping out of transports within 6″ to receive an order from her, which is very cool.

I’d have liked the gatling gun on the front of Vigilance to have Devastating Wounds like many other high shot, no AP guns, alas all this tank’s ranged weapons are a bit meh, even if you do get a fair few shots.

The kit comes complete with an on-foot miniature as well which is a bonus. She gets the same amount of close combat attacks as her vehicle mounted counterpart, as well as the standard Commissar Battle-shock ability. In addition, the unit she is with can Fall Back out of combat and shoot/charge.

Inquistor Kroyle

I make no secret that I love an Inquisitor. Whenever I have to write an Imperium list of any kind, whether it be Space Marines or Imperial Guard, I always find myself adding an Inquisitor to the force.

So it goes without saying that I was looking forward ot building, painting and adding another Inquisitor to the ranks!

Kroyle is unique however, as he is mounted on some form of alien beast. If that wasn’t a big enough giveaway that he is an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, then hopefully the huge Eldar-looking rifle should make you go ‘ahhhh’.

Assembling the mini was again super straightforward. Kroyle can be assembled seperately to his mount. Whilst the instructions show the reins being added to the mini after glueing the Inquisitor in place, I would highly recommend gluing the reins onto Kroyle immediately after assembling him, and then painting both him and his mount.

So, is he worth me adding him to my Imperium forces I hear you cry. He’s certainly an interesting choice. He is rocking a 12″ movement and a 4+ invulnerable save. He’s also a Lone Operative and has Scout 6″ which is super interesting.

The only weapon profile really worth singling out is that massive rifle. It is a Jindarri Tox-cycler. It has a 36″ range, 1 Attack, hits on 2s, S6, -2 and 2 damage. It also has Anti-Monster 2+, Heavy and Precision.

Yeah, that’s cool, but then you combine it with one of his abilities, Tox-cycler. Each time you Shoot in the Shooting phase, every time you’ve succesfully hit something, this weapon gets +2 to it’s Strength and Damage (to a cap of 6). Offtt. That’s very cool.

He also has another ability in which affects any of your Imperium Battleline units. He grants any Imperium or Agents of the Imperium Battleline units that shoot a target Kroyle has shot at this turn full rerolls to Hit. Spicy.

I’m no competitive player, but I am very interested on how competitive players use him, if at all.

Summary

Both units have not disappointed, from every way I look at them. They were fun to build and paint, and I cannot wait to field them in games of Warhammer 40k, especally with the new edition on the horizon.
