Space Wolves Reinforcements | Unboxing & Review | Warhammer 40,000

It doesn’t feel like all that long ago when I was unboxing and reviewing the amazing Space Wolf Army Set and Codex!

Hot on it’s heels is the full release of not only the Codex and the individual boxes for all the new minis in the Army Box (Battle Leader, Wolf Priest, Grey Hunters, Blood Claws and Headtakers) but also more new kits.

Those kits being:

  • Logan Grimnar – Chapter Master of the Space Wolves
  • Njal Stormcaller
  • Arjac Rockfist
  • Wolf Guard Terminators

In today’s article we are going to go through each of these units.

Our thanks to Games Workshop for sending us these kits to unbox and review for you folks. As always, you can preorder them right now through our affliates over at Element Games. Not only will this net you a saving VS RRP but it’ll also give us a little kick back and help us continue to bring you content.

First and foremost, if you’d like to watch me unbox all these fantastic kits, then you can do so via the video below:

Let’s go through each of the kits now.

Logan Grimnar

Look, let’s not mess around, this is the headline kit of this range refresh and he’s a monster.

Some say he is the best kit GW have put out in a while, and it is hard to disagree with said statement.

He doesn’t take that long to build at all, in fact I think the Wolves took a little longer than he did. Every single one of these kits were a joy to build, with every part fitting perfectly in to place.

Logan and his two wolves can be build seperately allowing for easier painting, which is exactly what I have done, as the wolves do stand quite close to the base and Logan.

I really like the little hidden Champions of Fenris logo on the back of Logan’s cloak, which again could be easily painted seperately.

He comes on a massive 80mm base, which the model nearly uses all of.

I cannot wait to get some paint on this model! (Sadly I’ve been on holiday, which prevented me from painting any of this range, as well as running out of time to build the Wolf Guard!).

Arjac Rockfist

Once upon a time I had a Space Wolf army. It was never painted, as was par for the course for the first few decades of me entering the hobby.

My favourite character back then, and in fact the first model I ever ‘converted’, was Arjac. I’m really pleased not only that he has a new kit, but IMHO, he is one of the best kits of the Space Wolf refresh.

Again he was super easy to assemble, and comes with two options. You can either assemble him throwing his Foehammer, or you can have him holding it. I opted for him holding his, but it was a tough call.

Whilst I’ll likely be painting Logan first, Arjac will be a super close second.

Njal Stormcaller

The third character from this wave is the return of the Stormcaller.

Yes, he’s ditched his Terminator armour nowadays and has returned to his Power Armour. I personally feel this was a good change, as I’d rather have him running round with a unit of Grey Hunters, etc, rather than Terminators (esp as you have Logan and Arjac for that).

This was my least favourite model from the reveal, which didn’t mean I didn’t like it, it just had an awful lot of competition. Now I have assembled him though I can officially say he has really grown on me! Even the cyber bird!

Again, really easy to assemble, even with his head/wrist guard combo piece of sprue.

Wolf Guard Terminators

Not to be outdone by the normal Terminator kit, the new Wolf Guard Terminators have had the scale up treatment, and look suitably epic next to Terminator wearing characters.

Sadly you don’t get as much variety on the sprue as the previous plastic Wolf Guard Terminators, which is a massive shame. The combo I really miss is the Thunder Hammer / Stormshield loadout (zero Thunder Hammers in this kit, and no option on the dataslate).

You do get plenty of one handed power weapons to equip the squad, and you do have the option of either assembling them with a Storm Bolter or Stormshield.

The Pack Leader gets two further options. A great axe which hits harder, or lightning claws for more attacks and the rerolls to wound thanks to the Twin-Linked rule.

Now sadly, due to my holiday, I didn’t get round to assembling these, but I’m really looking forward to doing so!

Our thanks again to Games Workshop for sending us these kits to unbox for all of you!
