January is finally over and I am happy to say that the first month of this hobby challenge has been a huge success as I have managed to fully paint up the Hierotek Circle.

This team was a bit of a pain to build I’m not going to lie I had several vocal outbursts whilst building the Immortals and the Deathmark but the Technomancer went together like a dream. One of my regular kill team opponents also surprised me with a Chronomancer which he bought me specifically for this challenge so needless to say I painted him up at the same time, I did consider buying the Psychomancer as well but with it being January and money being a bit tight I held off (am I finally being sensible with my Warhammer purchases ? haha).

Painting wise they were really relaxing to do and truth be told only took two evenings to do, I started by priming them leadbelcher, shocking I know and then used nazdreg yellow for the worn gold metal parts and warlock bronze for the other metallic details just to add some variety, I then covered them in agrax earthshade and dry brushed them necron compound as it seemed only right. The other details like the glowing green effect was just karandras green contrast with a biel tan shade over the top of a white base coat simples, the other details like the metal pylon on the plasmacyte accelerator’s base was painting screaming bell before following the recipe above and like I said the whole thing only took a couple of evenings to do.

The bases were kept very simple with a layer of astrogranite, a wash of nuln oil and then a drybrush of longboard grey over the top I then added some small patches of karandras green to create the impression that whatever is powering the necrons is slowly emanating from with the planet they are on… plus it looks nice so.

Terrain wise I fell behind on mostly as I got caught up in the hype of the Old World release and just ran out of time, I managed to get one halve the contents of the gallowfall terrain pack built and primed but just didn’t manage to get it painted which in all honesty I can’t see taking that long to do.

With that done let’s look to February which is a Warcry month and which team I am going to do so without any delay I’ll roll a dice …. and the result is.

Horns of Hashut

This might be one of the larger warbands which at first is a little daunting but the models look like they will take to batch painting really well so we will have to see how I get on, the main goal is to get the war band painted but I also really want to get some more scenery painted for Warcry as well lets see how I get on.
