It has been a couple of months now since my last hobby goal update, the reason for that is that unfortunately a close friend of mine and the show sadly passed away and as you can imagine the motivation to do any updates took a bit of a nose dive off a cliff. I met my friend through this hobby and we had a lot of good times because of the hobby so now is the time to continue hobbying and as a result writing hobby goal updates.
Needless to say I am happy with what I have been able to get done in my time off and I am hoping that I can make a serious dent into my hobby goals in September, the progress of which you can see below.

Jumping into the first model I painted back in July is Vulture for Marvel Crisis Protocol which came as part of the spider foes pack, I painted him first as he is in my opinion the easiest of the four characters in the set to paint and at the time I just wanted a quick palette cleanse.
I then jumped into a project that I have been wanting to do for about 22 years ! and that is the Tomb Kings for Old World, I started by painting some skeleton horsemen to test my paint scheme which has grown on me the more I paint, also I wanted to make sure the paint scheme was quick and fun to do as I have quite a bit of Tomb Kings to paint. After I painted the horsemen I had a quick trip to Warhammer World where I purchased a bone giant ( necrolith colossus to be exact ) which is one of the first Tomb King models I have got as a kid and it is soo much nicer in forge world resin than it was in metal.
Like I said I went to Warhammer World back in July with a friend and we spent two awesome days playing Warhammer 40k at both 2,000 points and 1,000 points using daemons as that is the only army I have at the moment for 40k. This ticked off three of my five 1,000 point games of 40k which I thought I would have done a lot earlier in the year but I just haven’t felt the pull of 40k, overall I really liked the newish Pariah Nexus mission deck so I might have to force myself to play more 40k, oh what a problem to have.
I have also been painting some more Star Wars shatterpoint this time with my favourite B1 battle droids from the core set to keep with the theme of quick and simple paint jobs these took a very lazy hour to paint and gets me one step closer to finishing the core set.
With the new edition of kill team on the horizon I put aside a lazy weekend to get the scenery from the beta decima box done thinking that I could play games on beta decima while also using the vantage terrain in regular games as the scenery kind of fits into open board games of kill team too. The paint job on this scenery was like most of my scenery painting was quick and easy, I primed the red gantries with mephiston red then washed it with agrax earth shade, then applied a rust effect from army painter and to finish it off dry brushed the gantries with necron compound. I did the same for the pillars except I primed them leadbelcher obviously and the result I am happy with.
And finally to finish off August I painted the Gondor tower for middle earth in preparation for recreating the battle report in a very old white dwarf 287, I painted it purely by dry brushing and it was a very relaxing paint job I started with priming the model with trench brown from colour forge which is basically steel legion drab, then I dry brushed tallarn sand, kayak stone and finally pallid wych flesh which gave that white stone feel that Gondor is known for, the roof was painted the fang and lightly dry brushed pallid wych flesh. The small amount of wood was painted gore grunta fur and washed with agrax earth shade after painting the silver leadbelcher and with that I had painted the Gondor tower.
With the new edition of kill team on the horizon I have also been building a lot of kill teams and I am quickly running out of space to put them now ( first world problems I know right ) depending on my motivation I might try to get the kill team / war cry challenge back on its feet but I have soo much that I want to do it can be hard to pick something and stay on target, with that said I’m going to pick some goals for September.
- Paint two characters for Marvel Crisis Protocol.
- Paint a Tomb King unit for old world.
- Finish building 1,000 points of Nords for Conquest.
With that let’s see how I get on in September hopefully I can get some much needed hobby motivation back and get those goals done.
