After four months of doing this challenge I am happy to say that I have painted four new kill teams / warbands which is making a serious dent into my backlog and the latest Warband’s to get painted was the Askurgan Trueblades, these models went together very easily and were for the most part a dream to paint.

The big test for me was the skin which started of with a base coat of celestra grey and then a way / coat of pylar glacier which gave the skin that light blue tone that I think looks awesome and goes well with the rest of the scheme. I used Baal red for the base coat of the red and that contrast paint has now become my new favourite red paint which I then washed with reikland flesh shade and dry brushed astorath red to get that bright red. With the rest of the scheme being a basecoat of zandri dust and either reikland flesh shade or seraphim sepia wash over the top to get two different tones.

Overall i’m really happy with this warband they were as I said a dream to build and really fun to paint as I kind of used them as a test scheme for paint vampires in the future, the only minor issue I had was I enjoyed them soo much that I feel like I need another box to get all the different weapon options and with them being fun to do I might have to.

As has become the norm for me scenery wise I didn’t get any done but I have a plan to catch up with my backlog of scenery with the help of a recent white dwarf article (in issue 496) which covers painting warcry scenery with contrast paints quickly and I’ve bought some matt varnish spray from colour forge to seal it all in when its finished as lets face it playing games will take its toll on scenery.

Moving on to next month, which kill team will I be painting well lets see.

Fellgor Ravagers

I am not going to lie I find this kill team quite intimidating due to the amount of detail that is on the models and I am not looking forward to painting this team but then I felt the same about the farstalkers and I ended up loving that team so we will have to see perhaps I should have put another team like chaos legionaries on the list but thats a lesson / feedback for myself.
