Adam and Eddie have just fronted a Space Marine Q&A over on the official Warhammer YouTube channel, which you can watch in full here.
It’s 25mins in length and features a lot of cagey answers to questions sent in by 40K fans. GW have never wanted to give too much away when it comes to future stuff, so we always expect a few unclear answers.
We did, however find out a few key things, which I thought I’d delve into now.
Future of the Deathwatch
Since last edition, when the Deathwatch was skipped when it came to a printed Codex, it was apparent GW didn’t have plans for the Deathwatch as it’s on standalone force. After feedback they did however do a digital supplement to support the faction.
It was no surprise that the Deathwatch came up during the Q&A.
Adam and Eddie confirmed that the Deathwatch would be getting a digital supplement once again, and that it would include datasheets for Kill Teams and the Corvus Blackstar. No mention of the Watch Master though, and as he isn’t Primaris it wouldn’t surprise me if he is going to Legends. He is in the current Imperial Agents book for now.
They also confirmed the supplement would be home to two Detachments. The first would cost 3 DP and allow you to field a full Deathwatch flavoured force. The second is a single DP, allowing you to bolt on Deathwatch to your Space Marines.
Grey Knights
A question was raised about the vehicle choices for the Grey Knights, as they rely on the old Dreadnoughts and Stormraven.
Whilst they said you can continue to use them, IMO they applied that when the Grey Knights Codex drops they may not be in there.
They did, however, drop a huge hint that exciting reveals are on the horizon for the Grey Knights, so I’m super pleased to be working on my own Grey Knight force.
Of course, it could just mean that more Space Marine vehicles, such as Replusors, are going to be available for the Grey Knights, however I’m hopeful it’ll be more than that.
Chaos Space Marines
The final main talking point was that of the Chaos Space Marines.
It was confirmed on the video that stat changes were coming to not just generic Chaos Marines, but also the other Legion Chaos Marine armies, such as the Death Guard and Thousand Sons, although we may see some slight variation.
It was, again IMO, heavily implied that classic chassis like the Predators would be getting removed from Chaos Codexes. I could be wrong, but that was the feeling I got.
Hopefully this will mean a raft of new Chaos vehicles on the horizon.
These above points weren’t the only questions they faced, however most of the other (none-lore related) questions were met with basically “wait for your Codex”.
For example, folks were asking about the speed of the Aeldari now that Phobos Marines have an 8” movement, and how tough will Custodes be now.
Overall, it was an interesting chat, without giving too much away.
