If I went back in time and told my younger self that one day I’d be writing a review for a set of official Royal Mail Warhammer postage stamps to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our favourite hobby I don’t think I’d have believed it!

But here we are in 2023, 40 years on from 1983 when Warhammer Fantasy Battles was released and the hobby is more popular than it has ever been! We have Warhammer magazines in newsagents, references to Warhammer in pop culture and even Warhammer live action tv shows on the way! And now we have Space Marines adorning your postage stamps!

A set of 10 stamps is released today, and thanks to Royal Mail we have a couple of the goodies to show off on the site! If you would like to order your own set then glad over to this link!

The set consists of 6 stamps that celebrate the miniatures of Warhammer, covering Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer The Old World, and 4 stamps that celebrate the art of Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer The Horus Heresy and Warhammer The Old World. Its great to see all these systems represented here and it acts as a little time capsule celebrating the last 40 years of the hobby

In addition to the single stamps or sheets, there’s a couple of cool goodies that can be purchased directly from Royal Mail – we’re lucky enough to have been sent some to share on the site!

First up is the Presentation Pack – this collects together all of the stamps with information about the history of all the systems. Its really nice to see Warhammer The Old World represented here and perhaps points to the fact that Games Workshop will want this to be released in time for the 40th anniversary of the game.

Next up are a pair of First Day Covers, one for each of the two sets of stamps. For those who do not know, First day covers are issued on the day of release of a stamp range so that they are franked with that specific date – what’s really nice with these is that they have a Lenton, Nottingham Frank on them which for those who don’t know is the home of Warhammer World and Games Workshop’s HQ

There are also two limited “medal covers” each featuring a really nice medal attached to the front! The first one is for Age of Sigmar featuring AOS artwork and a Stormcast medal

The second is for 40k and features a medal with the Indomitus artwork! Both are really nice to add to your collection

There’s loads of collectable goodies available over on the Royal Mail website, but some of them are limited so you may want to add them to your basket while you can!

This is a really cool collection to celebrate 40 years of Warhammer, and as a stamp nerd and a Warhammer nerd I feel this is like Christmas come early! Coincidently, it’s also my 40th birthday this year, so I feel a joint Warhammer birthday party is needed, and awesome Warhammer Stamps is something that really made me smile!

If there’s ever been a sign that Warhammer has hit the mainstream it is a set of Warhammer Stamps, and I hope we see something cool like this again in the future!

Massive thanks to Royal Mail for sending us a free presentation to look at and share on the site! The Warhammer stamp collection is available right now!
