Dave and Matt are here again with all the Games Workshop news from May 2017! Age of Sigmar Skirmish, Death Zone Season 2, Galvanic Servo Haulers and Warhammer 40k 8th Edition featuring the rather tasty Primaris Marines and Death Guard! Check it out below!
Welcome to a short introduction to this…my project log for a new army I’m building up as we delve into the 8th edition of Warhammer 40,000.
Normally I can be seen taking some kind of Imperial army to the table, although I do have a fairly large Tau army too. The Deathwatch have been my most recently used force, backed up by Imperials Agents. I’m a massive fan of Inquisitors, both in gameplay terms and in regards to the lore (explains why I purchased the limited edition version of the Vaults of Terra!).
However, with 8th edition round the corner, and with the creation of this website I figured ‘hey! you know what would be cool? I’ll start a new army!’. My wallet hasn’t stopped weeping yet.

Games Workshop have teamed up with Cubicle 7, RPG veterans who already have their mitts on popular brands such as Doctor Who and Lord of The Rings.
Not much is known about the new edition of Warhammer Role Play, although we do have a quote from the Cubicle 7 CEO thanks to the official statement:
“Like so many gamers I grew up on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It’s an iconic setting and I’m thrilled to be working on this new edition of the game. Our team have a huge breadth of experience with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and I’m excited to be able to bring the Cubicle 7 approach to the Old World. We’ll be revealing more of our plans in the coming months, so subscribe to our newsletter and keep an eye on our website!”
The official press release can be found at this link right here over on Cubicle 7s website.

We have some breaking news from the Warhammer Live stream covering the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar Skirmish!
Skirmish is a game featuring warbands of 5-20 models. The warbands cover all 4 factions but not all models, with those being allowed listed in the Skirmish rulebook (Out at a bargain £6 price point!) The warbands use a currency known as renown rather than points and allows for a super customisable force than can be converted to fit the story of the game! Warbands need at least a single hero, but then the rest of the force is up to your imagination!
Wizards can be taken and have 3 new spells! Magic Items are also available!
Units are split up and become individual models however Battleshock tests are taken on the whole army, so the loss of a single model can be deadly and spell the end of your game!
The game is set in the city of Shadespire (in the mortal realms) in the realm of death. Shadespire was the richest town in the mortal realms, but the people offended Nagash causing an event that leaves Shadespire as ruins. The city is surrounded by a desert of death! Interestingly this is the same setting as the upcoming Shadespire game – nice to see Games Workshop tie together their future releases like this!
You build a warband and work your way through 6 narrative battleplans to build the story of your force with the warband gaining upgrades as they progress throughout the storyline.
The intent of the game is to be able to buy a box and be able to start putting together a warband for smaller and quicker games in a more casual and narrative environment!
The game is up for preorder on Saturday and Sprues and Brews will be back with a full review and battle report once we have our hands on it!
More news as we get it!
Games Workshop have been teasing us daily in regards to upcoming rule changes on a daily basis as the hype train presses on towards the launch of the 8th edition of Warhammer 40,000.
Today however, they have dropped a game changer. A brand new breed of Space Marines are descending… Say hello to the Primaris Space Marines!
Wearing Mark X armour and sporting very snazzy looking Bolt Rifles, these new look Marines can be added to your exsisting chapter or or they can be used as a new force. The shoulder pads and helmets are handily the same size as the current range.
Unlike Tactical Squads they cannot be fitted with lots of tasty heavy weapons. Personally though, I do like those new rifles!
For full details, including a handy FAQ on how they’ll work in existing armies right here.
